Inspired by the poem of the same name by America's most famous poet, Edgar Allan Poe, my interpretation of Annabel Lee finds a haunting figure traversing the stormy beaches of her kingdom by the sea. Stepping off the page and into this gothic romance, the tumuluous sea winds and crashing waves tear at her billowing hair, bridal veils, and flowing gown, as the warm glow of a church, holding the sepulchres of the darparted glints in the distance. Is she a ghostly vision? An apparition? A memory? It is up to the viewer to decide.
